Two is better than one...

I don't know how single mothers/fathers raise a child alone.  It isn't impossible but it is definitely harder than having a child who has both parents raising him or her.

Today is the first day Laura begins her classes this fall semester.  Luckily I have 6 weeks off from work, so all I need to do is concentrate on Mason.  I am glad he is well behaved and only cries when he wants the necessities, such as feeding, diaper change, and/or sleep.

I also have the help of Shorty, however she's old and worn out...anyways that is a totally different blog post.  As I was saying I am cherishing every moment I can with Mason during my time off.  I think its very important to bond with him during these early weeks of his life.  Plus, I can dress him how I want...

We still can't believe it!

We are actually parents who gave life to a precious baby boy!  It seems all surreal still...we are now responsible for raising another human being.  We both hope we instill good values and manners to Mason as he grows up.  We only want the best for him and we both will do all we can in order to make things easier for him.  Having a baby is a huge responsibility but it is definitely fun.

Mason is loved by many

From the very first day Mason was born Laura and I had a lot of family and friends who were eager to meet our lil guy.  Laura does not have a very large family, it is mainly composed of her father, mother, 2 brothers, and sister.  I on the other hand have a very large extended family.  Here are photos of our family members during the first week Mason arrived.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10....great!

So yes Mason does have all 10 fingers and 10 toes!  We see them everyday when we are feeding him, changing his diapers, or putting him to sleep.  It is true babies are a lot of work but they are also fun.  Before Mason came, at times Laura and I were bored with the same routine....well guess what?  We aren't bored anymore!

There is always something that is a challenge or something we can learn from.   Plus, we can pose him and dress him up anyway we want.  He sure knows how to pose and is very easy going.  Here are some photos taken by Oanh when he was 1 week old.

One week old....

Time sure does fly by quick.  I can't believe Mason is a week old already.  So many things about him has changed...his facial features, skin color, his demeanor.  Son, we have been waiting 39 weeks for you and we are so happy you are finally here!

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital - HEB

I would definitely recommend the HEB hospital to everyone. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and very professional. Plus, the room and service were amazing.  We don't have any complaints and it seemed as if Mason enjoyed having the staff around as well.  From the prep, surgery, onto recovery, and into the post partum everyone was courteous.  I know after having a c-section, the hospital and its staff made Laura's stay a lot easier.

Mason's favorite nurse was Allyson and his favorite Tech was Angie.  All the nurses said he was the cutest baby they have seen in a while.  They also have a great nursery, NICU, and lactation department.  They also had a great security plan implemented, which I found to be very important.

Mason Huu Nguyen



On August 15th, 2011, Mason Huu Nguyen was born via c-section. He was 7lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long. Laura is doing a lot better considering we stayed at the hospital from Monday till Friday.

Contraction, Rubber, Wheelchair

So earlier this week Laura had her first contractions.  A few weeks ago she thought she had a contraction or two, but this time she really knew they were contractions.  They were approximately 3 minutes apart and lasted 20 minutes.  The Doctor said if the contractions are about 5 minutes apart and last approximately 2 hours then we should go to the Emergency Room.  Luckily I already packed my "Oh S#!t" bags, so I'm ready if Mason wants to come early.

Something interesting occurred today, Laura found a toy ducky at Target and it was wearing a police officer uniform!  But of course there was also one wearing a fireman uniform.  I have noticed stores sell a lot of fireman and fire trucks baby and kids items....but it is very rare to see any baby/kids items which have police uniforms on them. Its made by Munchkin and it was a limited edition, so I had to get one!
