Mason

I love you with all my heart. I wish I could spend more time with you and love on you more. Don't worry my sweet boy because when mommy graduates from Nursing School we are going to spend much needed time together. I miss our summer, we spent everyday together and I wish I could live my life like that with you everyday and every minute.

I wish I didn't have to study all the time. But I know it will all pay off. I made a promise to you and everything I do is for you. I want to make sure you are going to have the best life we can provide for you. You give me purpose in life. I thank God everyday for allowing you to be in my life.

At times, you can be a little demanding but I love that about you. I can see where you get that from. Of course, its from me.

I promise you Mason, I will make it through this semester!

You are my motivation and my heart. Love you forever and always.

Momma :)

One year check-up

Yesterday I took Mason for his first year check-up at the Pediatrician's Office.  He received a total of 5 shots and took them all like a champ.   He is currently 30.5 inches tall and weighs 23.5 pounds, in which both of these rank him in about the 55 percentile.  His head however is still large, measuring at 20 inches which puts him in the 99%.  That's a lot of brain!

New car seat and stroller

Since Mason has been getting so big, we finally invested in a new car seat and stroller.
He seems to enjoy both of them.  The car seat is user friendly, in which we can move it from one vehicle into another without any issues.
The stroller is also easy to pop in and out when we are on the go.  As nice as our Orbit Stroller is, the Uppababy Stroller takes less space in our car and is a little more user friendly.

Birthday Decor

We celebrated Mason's First Birthday at The Little Gym and it was a joy! We love everything Dr. Seuss. Mason was Thing 1 and Phan Thing 2.  We had a mini dessert table for the kids and it was a big hit.   The shirt Mason wore and my husband, I ordered from Etsy.

My Truffula Trees were made out of tissue papers. They were basically flower pom poms but I stuck a stick from Ikea on the back.  My husband used the pipe cleaner wire to hold the pom poms. I purchased rocks from Dollar Tree and stuck them in some vases my friend bought at a dollar store for the Truffula Trees to stand. I ordered Dr. Seuss ribbon from etsy because there was a sale and I just put the ribbion around various jars. I used hot glue on some of the vases to hold the ribbion and then towards the end I used tape :) We ran out of the glue gun sticks!

Some fun chocolate sixlets and gumballs to bring out the color theme of the party

Multi-colored goldfish crackers in reference to the book:

I made Marshmallow pops out of white chocolate and dipped them in Red & Turquoise sprinkles! Such a easy recipe.  I just stuck the sticks in styrofoam and wrapped it up with wrapping paper.

Animal Crackers in reference to the book If I Ran a Zoo

Mason's Birthday cake, with his smash cake on the very top, made by Calling All Cakes in Arlington, TX

My husband printed out the labels for the candy from Kinkos. We also printed little book images but we forgot to buy little stands so we only displayed 1 little book.  The Cat in The Hat.  The lollipop stand I made from a styrofoam cone and used ribbion to wrap around and needles to hold in the back. I stuck lollipops I ordered from amazon to the cone. I was so proud of the lollipop stand!

Delicious homemade cupcakes compliments of Phantastic cupcakes

I loved his party! I'm not very crafty but our friend Gabby is. All of his banners were made by her excluding the monthly banner. She did such a great job!

One- year Birthday photos

Mason had a good turn out at his Birthday party about 10 kids came and celebrated his first party.  They all seemed to enjoy the little gym.  The decorations and food were a big hit.  It was a short but fun time for everyone there.  Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out the Birthday party.  We all were really happy that both of Mason's grandmothers were able to attend.  A huge surprise was when Mason's Great Grandmother came from Arkansas to see him.  He is such a lucky child.

The many expressions of a one year old

So today was Mason's one year old Birthday!  As a family we all spent the day together to celebrate his Birthday.  We also took Mason to Chuck E. Cheese which he seemed to really enjoy.

However, the big event is that we are having a Birthday Party for Mason on Saturday at the Little Gym which should be exciting.  And to make things even better, Mason's Grandmother is flying into town to celebrate!  Anyways, to get ready for his First Birthday, we decided to take a yearly photo of him, however he was not liking the idea.  He hated his tie!

First we tried to take a photo in front of his bookcase...failed!

So then we went outside on the grass...failed again!

We call this "it's the end of the world" photo...he's can be dramatic at times
Daddy figured out how to make Mase happy, he gave him  his eye glasses...

This was our final product, our one year old Birthday Boy!

Choosing the perfect sippy cup.

So since Mason is getting older, we have been trying to find the perfect sippy cup for him.
After lots of trials and errors, we have finally found the one that works the best for our lil man.
Nope, not any of these...

I never knew he would be so picky about which sippy cup he likes.  We spent lots of money on the ones which don't satisfy his liking.  Its a huge transition since he still prefers the bottle over any sippy cup.  Eventually we'll get to where we need to be.
Here is the winner!

Mason's first official haircut!

So to prepare for our big Wedding Day, Laura and I took Mason to get his first hair cut.  I was nervous at first because not only was it Mason's first hair cut, but I also believe it was the employee's first time cutting a child's hair!  Thankgoodness the end result was positive.

Waiting area at Kool Kutz for kids

I still don't understand how they came up with these prices...

It was like a little baby's man cave!

There was no way I was going to let my son get into this vehicle...therefore...

we had to settle for a Taxi since there wasn't a police car available...

He likes his fohawk!

Something to save for memories

Our sweet lil boy
Overall, Mason was very well behaved.  He wasn't startled by the scissors or the electric razor when he was getting his hair cut.  It's good to know this is another First's where he did well and hopefully we won't have any future problems.

11 months old and his first pair of real shoes!

We can't believe he is almost a year old!  Mason's one year birthday is coming up too quickly.  Also, since he is now standing up, we bought him his first pair of shoes from Stride Rite.  He is getting adjusted to having something besides sock-shoes on his feet.

We've got a stander!

For the past couple of weeks we've been noticing Mason trying to lift his little body up to stand. We usually will help him up and he'll stand for a few minutes. Last Thursday, Phan went into Mason's room in the morning and he was standing up in the crib! That was a first. I'm not sure if it's a good thing to be standing in the crib now.

Saturday night, I was working on wedding stuff and I turned my head and noticed that he picked his self up to stand underneath the glass table! I was so proud of him,  I had to snap a few pictures to show Phan at work.

Today I went out to run errands and Phan sent me a text of Mason standing over Shorty's bed. I don't think she was too happy about it.

It looks like he is on his way to walking soon. I'm thrilled and sad at the same time. My little man is growing up too quick.

She's not too thrilled with him
