Today our family went to the Texas State Fair located in Dallas. We had fun spending some quality family time together. We walked, watched a parade, ate delicious food, and to top it off...the weather was beautiful! We wanted to share some photos of our experience.

A quick 6 weeks
Son,
Since the day you were born I was able to take 6 weeks off from work in order to care for you and your mother. Well today, you will be exactly 6 weeks old, this means I will have to return to work. I am going to miss taking care of you and being with you 24 hours a day but I know everything will work out with a positive outcome.
As excited as I am about returning to work, I am going to miss all the time we shared during these 6 quick weeks. I have watched you transform in so many ways. Physically you are acquiring more features which favor me as well as your mother. You are also slowly gaining your personality and I am so thankful you are a wonderful son. You are very easy-going and the only times you cry are when you are hungry or if you need your diaper changed. I know its going to be a tough transition for myself when I leave to work for 8 hours. However I cannot wait to return home to you and your mother. I will definitely cherish these 6 weeks we spent so closely together. I love you Mason.

Ba Noi left but she will be back
Laura and myself had a wonderful experience while my mother was visiting. There was so much we did together and talked about within a few days that brought us all close together. I know Mason really enjoyed his Grandmother's company. She spent as much time as possible as she could with him while she was here. She even woke up late at night to care for him so Laura and I could get some rest. She also threw him the best one month party celebration.
Today, I drove my mom to the airport so she could fly back to South Carolina. Laura, Mason, and I are all sad. However we already scheduled for her to come visit during Thanksgiving which will be exciting! We love you mom, thank you for everything!

Grandma's last time holding Mason before she leaves. He held on for dear life to keep her close. |

One Month Celebration
Today Mason had his one month celebration, which is a Vietnamese tradition which allows everyone to meet the new born baby. Approximately 65 people came to his party which was located at A1 Super Buffet. The majority of the people came from his Ba Ngoai's side. Laura and I would like to thank everyone for coming to celebrate this eventful celebration. We appreciate all our family and friends taking the time and driving many miles and hours in order to meet our son.

From Dad...
Dear Mason,
As I am writing this letter you are exactly 4 weeks old, you are practically one month old. I just put you down to sleep in your Fisher-Price swinger which is located in the living room and I am on the couch looking over you. Your mother is currently in bed sleeping because she has to wake up in a few hours to go nursing school.
The reason your mother and I began the blog was to show our family and friends the journey we took to give life to you and to raise you. We also wanted to document the significant parts along the way as well as have something special for you to look back on as you get older. I originally wanted to give you the link to this blog when you graduate from high school, but I do not know if that will work since technology is so advance these days. We shall see...
I wanted to write this letter to you so I could communicate with you directly once you get older. All the photos and videos do show a lot of feelings and emotions, however it will never mean as much as a direct letter. If anything should ever happen to me from now until the day you read this, just know that I love you and your mother very much. I pray nothing ever happens to you, Mom, or myself but tomorrow is never promised. However, if I do become seriously injured, ill, or die; I know your mother will take good care of you and protect you against all the evil in the world. If something should ever happen to her and I both, we already have arrangements in place to have you cared for. If I am no longer living, just remember where ever you are, I will always be right next to you keeping you safe.
I love you son.

Shorty is no longer the only child...
So many of you have been asking us to elaborate on the story of the relationship between Shorty and Mason, well here it is...
So ever since Mason has came home Shorty has not been reacting very well to his arrival. We are not sure what it is, but she will literally runaway from him when he gets close. For the past 5 years she has been the center of our attention, however we have new priorities.
Shorty has been spade so she never had and never will have puppies, but she's a smart dog and we know she understands Mason came from Laura's stomach when he was born.
Shorty is funny, she will go and throw herself in a corner or sit in the middle of the living room trying to get our attention. We both try to give her as much love as we possibly can, but Mason is young and needs us more. I am sure Mason will give her a lot of love once he gets older.
